Ossett Fire Station
Construction of Ossett Fire Station commenced in September 2015 to replace the old station previously located on Dale Street near the centre of Ossett. Occupation of the new Ossett station commenced on 5 October 2016.
The station has an accommodation block consisting of office space and messing areas on the ground floor, along with a community room and a gym. It also has a two-bay appliance room.
The new fire station is a comfortable, safe, and up-to-date workplace and represents a significant investment by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority. It will provide a modern and efficient base from which to deliver our highly effective emergency response and community safety activities in the area for many years to come.

The crews at Ossett are specialists in water rescue, meaning they are able to respond to a wide variety of incidents from fires to wide area flooding incidents as well as people who require rescuing from fast flowing water. Crews also deliver important prevention and risk reduction activities within the area to reduce the risks our communities face. There is also has a station clerk who supports crews in their day to day work and is a vital asset ensuring the station runs efficiently.
Ossett station is also the home of the Wakefield District Management Team who were previously based at Wakefield Fire Station.
The Team incorporates Ops training, Prevention and HR personnel. The Ops team provide support and training to operational crews and partner agencies. They also plan district and brigade exercises and scope out potential venues that can add value for operational crews to utilise for training in a variety of scenarios.
The Prevention team support crews and drive forward initiatives in the local community and work closely with partner agencies to reduce the risks in our communities. HR personnel provide a vital link for all staff and the team have a dedicated HR Business partner.
