Description

Are you ready to take on an exciting new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant based at our Headquarters in Birkenshaw. It’s an exciting time to join West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as we start to move into a brand-new building at the Headquarters site.

This is a varied and impactful role, providing an opportunity to work with the most Senior Officers at one of the country’s leading fire and rescue services. Joining us, you will have the job satisfaction of knowing each day that you are contributing to the success of one of just six metropolitan fire and rescue services in the UK, supporting over 1,400 staff who work round the clock to help people and save lives.

The Role

Having previous experience of working as a Personal Assistant, together with a proactive approach in supporting senior leadership; logical thinking; dealing with sensitive information, excellent problem solving skills, aswell as effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for this varied role.

You will work well in a team, be proactive and take responsibility for all areas of administrative support, including attending and taking accurate minutes of meetings, arranging travel and hotel requirements, preparing conference itineraries and supporting events, you will also provide cover for other PAs as required.

You will have excellent time management and organisational skills, can work without direct supervision, in a changeable environment, and working flexibly in relation to the needs of the post is key.

You will develop good working relationships with your team, key staff and partners within external organisations, including the other emergency services, Government ministers, Members of Parliament, civic dignitaries, and elected members.

You will have excellent keyboard skills, knowledge and application of Microsoft 365 and overall good IT Skills.  Audio typing skills and a qualification in minute taking would be an advantage.

We offer flexible working arrangements, and you will be required to work mostly from our offices at Birkenshaw. To support occasions when working from home, applicants will need a reliable home internet connection.
