Ten pumps at Leeds city centre derelict high rise fire. On going incident. Top three floors still alight. Safety cordon in place and surrounding buildings have been evacuated due to potentially unsafe structure of the derelict building. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is working with West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service. The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) is also in attendance.

Fire crews are in attendance following four large haystacks catching fire in open countryside. Five pumps were called to Hall Farm Road, in Swillington. In attendance were pumps and crews from Castleford, Hunslet, Rothwell and two from Killingbeck stations following the initial call out. This has now been reduced to three engines, as crews remain on site damping down. Crews have said there is no danger to local residents, but have advised people to close doors and windows, should they smell the smoke. There are no road closures and no danger to lives.

Large waste fire approx. 20m x 30m. Exposure to 1 side. Plant machinery in use to make fire break.

8 fire appliances, 1 aerial appliance and specialist units from across the brigade are in attendance at this incident.

Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Residents of Northgate Lodge, Pontefract are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

The incident has now been reduced further to 3 fire appliances.

Damping down in progress.  Fire now out.  

The incident has been scaled back to 6 fire appliances.  We will remain on scene throughout the night.
