Wildfire - Holmfirth area
We are handing the incident over to Greater Manchester FRS. Our crews are beginning to withdraw from the scene except for one fire appliance and wildfire unit who will remain on the moorland to support our colleagues.
We'd like to thank the public for their cooperation at this incident.
Twelve crews including wildfire support units and other supporting crews are now at the incident or mobile to the incident. The fire continues to burn and crews are using blowers and moorland terrain vehicles including argocats to contain the blaze.
This fire is still burning across the border so we continue to work with our colleagues at Greater Manchester FRS to tackle it.
The public are being asked again to please stay away from the area while crews continue their work.
We were called at 13.57 today to reports of a moorland fire off Greenfield Road in Holmfirth. We currently have 10 crews and supporting wildfire units at the scene or making their way to the scene. We are working with our colleagues at Greater Manchester FRS as the fire is also breaching their area. The fire is currently spreading North towards Marsden.
The public are asked to avoid the area while we continue to work with our partners to bring the fire under control.
