Gala day goes from strength to strength

Freddie the Fire Engine at the GalaRecord numbers turned out to West Yorkshire’s Emergency Services Gala at the weekend.

More than 6,000 people flocked through the gates at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s Birkenshaw Headquarters on Saturday, July 12, helping raise around £10,000 for charity.
While The Fire Fighters Charity and Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity will share £5,000, the remainder will be shared between a number of local charities which attended on the day.
Visitors enjoyed more than 150 attractions, including an Army assault course, Royal Marine simulator and everyone watched in awe as a Hiller 12E4 James Bond helicopter landed on
the gala field. All three emergency services were out in force, including the Urban Search and Rescue team who carried out an extrication and the West Yorkshire Police dogs showed they
are a force to be reckoned with.

Freddie the Fire Engine entertained the crowds, while The Pulse radio station continued their
support of the event. More...
