Fire chiefs unveil three-year plan
West Yorkshire’s fire chiefs today unveiled a major plan to revamp services over the next three years.
Radical improvements have been made since 2004 through a process called integrated risk management planning (IRMP) which aims to ensure brigades have the right level of staff and equipment in the right place at the right time to meet all foreseeable emergencies.
“The best location for fire stations, equipment and other resources can only be decided by in-depth analysis. We have successfully introduced a range of innovative changes over recent years but I am now proposing a three-year programme to tackle a series of more complex challenges,” explained Chief Fire Officer Phil Toase
“Over the coming months we shall be carrying some root and branch investigations so we can hopefully roll-out detailed proposals from the summer of 2009.
“At this stage I can’t predict what changes may follow but we will certainly learn from successful experience in other parts of the country and tailor local solutions.” more...
